The Tear-Stained Path
By Shelia Gosney
Years that were stalled and sometimes crawled
seemed so painful on the way.
But they taught me how to look to Christ
in submission every day.
Times of sorrow that broke my heart
somehow softened my heart for the Lord,
Until I could see that I was already free
and by grace, I was restored.
Tears that fell were never a waste
for they gave me the chance to know,
The Comforter who dried those tears
and helped my faith to grow.
The “normal life” that my flesh yearned for
would have been nice if it came.
But the tear-stained path Christ walked with me
gave more gifts than all the pain.
